AKP WOULD LIKE TO TURN STATE OF EMERGENCY INTO STATE OF WAR!

18.01.2018

As a result of State of Emergency, declared on July 20th 2016 for three months, to be extended 6th times, TMMOB Chair of Executive Committee Emin Koramaz made a press statement.

AKP WOULD LIKE TO TURN STATE OF EMERGENCY INTO STATE OF WAR!

State of Emergency continued 18 months, was extended once again today. AKP will govern the country three months more without taking legal responsibility, without any inspection and without obeying constitutional principles.

Nobody doubts anymore that aim of State of Emergency is not reckon with congregants of Gülen Community. Aim of State of Emergency is to perpetuate a regime of fear in which AKP has used opportunities of power enormously and irresponsibly.

Economic, political and social devastation created by the State of Emergency drags country into a great darkness.

Instability and worry generated by decrees having force of law of which scope and content are unpredicted gradually deepen not only political but also economic crisis. Unemployment, poverty and expensiveness get to unsustainable point.

The bitter stories of mothers who committed suicide because of not being able to find wood to warm up their children, unemployed people burnt their selves in front of the Turkish Parliament because of not being able to make living, proletarians who undressed in front of Turkish Labor Agency because of shouting their hunger out display dimension of crisis that we have experienced.

Instead of finding a solution for situation that we live in, AKP drags country into war to be able to obscure this crisis. AKP would like to turn state of emergency into state of war.

Policies of violence and war will result nothing than increasing problems that the State of Emergency caused, deepening sorrows and costing new deaths.

We say enough to this regime of tyranny living on war and violence in which Constitution has been suspended; decisions given by Constitutional Court have been disregarded; law has not run; the Parliament cannot function; jurisdiction has been totally controlled by government; free press has been silenced; opponent bodies have been suppressed.

For the future of the country, State of Emergency should be abated; decrees having force of law should be retrieved and war policies should be relinquished.
