PUNISHMENT TO CONDEMNATION FOR ANKARA MASSACRE IS UNACCEPTABLE!

20.12.2017

After sentence of representatives of labor and professional organizations including TMMOB Secretary of Artvin Province Coordination Board Hakan Yavuz to imprisonment due to press release in October 12th 2015 for protesting  October 10th Massacre, TMMOB issued a press statement in December 20th, 2017.

TO PRESS AND PUBLIC OPINION

After Ankara Massacre in front of Ankara Train Gar in October 10th 2015, DİSK, KESK and TTB shared their decision of going on a strike for October 12thand 13th 2015, and then the massacre was condemned through various activities around Turkey.

In line with strike decision, in Artvin a press release was organized and then a lawsuit was filed about participants of it. In the last trail in December 19th, 2017 representatives of labor and professional organizations including TMMOB Secretary of Artvin Province Coordination Board Hakan Yavuz received imprisonment.

In October 10th 2015, in the square that thousands of people came together from all over Turkey for the “Labor and Democracy Meeting”, despite information shared with State’s related units, suicide bombers freely came to the area and acted the deadliest massacre of the history of Turkey. In case that public servants having responsibility in this massacre are giving their selves gradually and no legal action has been taken yet; punishment of our executives is unacceptable. The ones should be punished is obvious.

Government’s attitude during and after the Massacre is disgraceful for the sake of humanity. Punishment of our executives due to memorialize and protest the Massacre is disgraceful. We condemn these punishments.

We call for returning from this shame and for withdrawal of punishments given to TMMOB Secretary of Artvin Province Coordination Board Hakan Yavuz and other people who came together by invitation of DİSK, KESK, TMMOB and TTB.
