STATE OF EMERGENCY AND ORDER OF DECREES HAVING FORCE OF LAW DRAG TURKEY INTO DARKNESS

Emin Koramaz, chairman of executive council of TMMOB, made a statement to the press regarding December 24th, 2017 dated and 695 and 696 numbered Decrees Having Force of Law.

State of Emergency and Order of Decrees Having Force of Law Drag Turkey into Darkness

State of Emergency declared for three months to eliminate ones related with 15th July coup attempt turned 17 months.

Arrangements made by means of total 30 decrees having force of law enacted through usurping power of parliament during State of Emergency Regime continuing for 17 months drag Turkey into darkness. Arrangements made by December 24th, 2017 dated and 695 and 696 numbered Decrees Having Force of Law are very clear signs of darkness that we have been dragged into.

Through these recent decrees having force of law in which 2756 public servants were dismissed unlawfully, many arrangements were made ranging from imposition of uniform for detainees to appointment of new members to Supreme Court; subcontracted workers to giving Turkish Wealth Fund an authorization of external borrowing.

The most terrifying arrangement of all is providing legal irresponsibility for the civilians “who act within the scope of suppressing terror acts and other actions following them” by means of Article 121 in the 696 numbered Decree Having Force of Law. This system of impunity encouraging violence, increasing social conflict, disregarding rule of law principle is unacceptable.

We warn AKP government once again! For its political destiny, the government should give up dragging country’s future into darkness. What we need is a Turkey full of peace and calmness not social conflicts.

As everybody already knows that AKP government uses State of Emergency for its own political demands not for settling a score with the ones who are related with coup attempt. It should put an end to this situation threatening law order and social peace.

Before it is too late all these arrangements ignoring public’s will, denying principle of separation of powers, usurping legislative prerogative of parliament should be withdrawn, and State of Emergency Regime should be ended.
