THE TRUTH CANNOT BE HIDDEN, THE REALITIES CANNOT BE OBFUSCATED!

TMMOB IS AGAINST BOTH TERRORISM AND IDOLIZATION OF WAR

As it is known, on January 22, about operation in Afrin, TMMOB Steering Committee made a press statement titled “What We Need Is Peace in Our Country, in the Region and in the World”. In our statement we mentioned that our country should keep away from dangerous traps of struggle for effectiveness between USA and Russia; and that main opponent party to be criticized severely despite its support for Afrin Operation shows that polarizing policies established day by day still continue. Furthermore we stated that Turkey should be part of peace not war. 

After the Turkish Medical Association made a press release on January 24, titled “War is a Problem of Public Health” a lynch attempt was started on social media. Then as a result that the Turkish President pointed the Turkish Medical Association (TTB) as a target in his speech on January 26, TMMOB Steering Committee issued a press release titled “the Turkish Medical Association is not Alone” displaying its solidarity with TTB.

Lastly on January 27, Vice Prime Minister and spokesman of the government Bekir Bozdağ pointed our organization as target via five different posts on Twitter about TTB and TMMOB administrations without mentioning content of press releases they issued. Bozdağ, contrary to facts, could say that “It is clear that they have never made any statement about terror organizations, terrorists, terrors attacks and massacres till now, yet they support them as they have been in a difficulty”.

As we all know Bozdağ’s old support for Fettullah community and TMMOB’s approach to terrorism is clear. TMMOB condemned terrorism no matter where it came from as we mentioned in our several statements. There are many statements that TMMOB condemning terrorism. Chair of the TMMOB Executive Committee Emin Koramaz’s press releases made within this working period;

• Terror attack towards police station in Şemdinli on October 9, 2016 “We Condemn Terror Attack in Şemdinli”;
• On terror attack in Adana November 24, 2016 “We Condemn Terror Attack in Adana”;
• On terror attack in Istanbul on December 11, 2016 “It’s Enough!”;
• On terror attack in Kayseri on December 17, 2016 “We Condemn Terror Attack in Kayseri”;
• On Ankara Ambassador of Russia, Andrey Karlova to be assassinated on December 20, 2016 “We Condemn Andrey Karlova to be Assassinated”;
• On terror attack realized in celebrations of  New Year’s Eve in Istanbul on January 1, 2017 “We Condemn Terror Attack in Reina”;
• On terror attack in Izmir on January 6, 2017 “It’s Enough! We Condemn All Attacks Targeting Our People’s Security of Life”

are some of statements that TMMOB condemns terrorism no matter where it comes from. This is why we say that the truth cannot be hidden, the realities cannot be obfuscated.

Mr. Bozdağ discriminates/divides society, commits hate crime, and attempts to set our colleagues and people against each other by saying “TTB cannot represent Turkish medicals as TMMOB cannot represent Turkish engineers and architects, and they cannot use name Turk within their titles”; “It is shameful in the name of medicals, engineers and architects and it is unacceptable for Turkey that TTB and TMMOB are still in the hands of people who are fond of terrorism”; “Administrations of the Turkish Medical Association and the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects should either lay down their office, or remove word Turk from their title, or medicals, engineers and architect who love their people and state should take over management of these organizations”.

Mr. Bozdağ and public opinion should know that, with power of science, TMMOB which is an organization of engineers, architects, urban planners working for welfare of our country is fond of “peace in country, in region in world”.

In the direction of our intelligence, consciousness, conscience we fulfill our responsibilities towards our country, our people and our children, and we say no both to terrorism and idolization of war and we say long live human life, long live peace.
