WE ARE ON TURKISH MEDICAL ASSOCIATION’S (TTB) SIDE

Today, within the scope of an operation realized in the morning time towards Turkish Medical Association (TTB), which is a professional organization with public institution status, 11 members of Central Council of TTB were taken into custody; their houses, working places and TTB’s Head Office were searched by police force.

The reason for this operation of suppression towards TTB is its statement titled “War is a Public Health Problem”.

Yet as it is known, fundamental duty of medical doctors is keeping people alive. What Turkish Medical Association will is ensuring continuity of death versus life, war versus peace shortly continuity of human life.

The reason behind this operation is clear: Reinforcing fear atmosphere created in the country and muting voice of all opponents.

Duty of Constitutional organizations which have public institution status, in another words duty given by general public, is protecting human life, interests of country and people. Effort of TTB, us and all labor and democracy forces is with the line of this duty.

We condemn this operation which disregards democracy, law, professional and social rights and duties, we want executives of TTB to be set free and we mention that we are in solidarity with whole TTB organization.
